Malcolm Turnbull must immediately drop the Liberal’s unfair cuts to Family Tax Benefits and Paid Parental Leave.
If he doesn’t, it’s very clear that nothing has changed. Families can only expect more of the same.
Following last year’s Budget, Malcolm Turnbull said:
"I support unreservedly and wholeheartedly every element in the Budget. Every single one.
I support the changes to family payment reform."
MALCOLM TURNBULL – 2GB – 5 JUNE 2014
Never forget that Malcolm Turnbull sat around the Cabinet table and endorsed the $8.5 billion cut from Family Tax Benefits. Cuts that will leave a single income family on $65,000 a year up to $6,000 a year worse off.
Malcolm Turnbull sat around the Cabinet table and endorsed the cut to paid parental leave for 80,000 new parents. Cuts that will see 45,000 new parents lose part of their paid parental leave and 34,000 new parents lose the full $11,800.
Malcolm Turnbull sat around the Cabinet table that accused new mums who access both employer and government PPL schemes of being ‘double dippers’.
It doesn’t matter who runs the Liberal Party - these cuts to families need to go.
If Malcolm Turnbull wants to show a new style of leadership he should drop the Liberal’s unfair cuts to Australian families.
No matter who leads the Liberal Party, Labor will continue to fight for families until these cuts are gone forever.
