TONY ABBOTT’S FOCUS ON FAMILIES COMPLETELY WORTHLESS
April 15, 2015
Tony Abbott’s claims today that he wants to “help parents with the challenges of having a family” are absolutely worthless so long as his $5.5 billion in cuts to family payments remain in the Parliament.
Tony Abbott’s new focus on families is all about saving his leadership. It has nothing to do with supporting Australian families.
Because of Tony Abbott’s cuts, some single income families on around $65,000 will be as much as $6,000 a year worse off.
Any suggestion he cares about Australian families is complete rubbish. This man’s word means absolutely nothing.
If Tony Abbott gets his way single income families will be kicked off Family Tax Benefit Part B when their youngest child turns six. This measure alone will leave families more than $3,000 a year worse off.
Freezes on payment rates will rip another $2.6 billion dollars from families, and cuts to end of year supplements a further $1.2 billion.
Tony Abbott’s new focus on families is all about saving his leadership and nothing to do with supporting Australian families.
If he really cared, he would drop these cuts immediately.
Failure to do so shows just how two-faced this Prime Minister really is.
