TONY ABBOTT’S BUDGET CUTS HURT FAMILIES

December 23, 2014

Tony Abbott’s Budget cuts will hurt Australian families and there’s nothing in the Government’s reshuffle that changes that fact.

A family with an income of around $65,000 a year will be around $6,000 a year worse off because of Tony Abbott’s savage cuts to family payments according to analysis from the National Centre for Social and Economic Modelling (NATSEM).

Tony Abbott says he wants his Government to shift its focus onto families.

But Mr Abbott is cutting the budgets of some Australian families by 10 per cent.

If Mr Abbott and Mr Morrison are serious about helping families they should start by scrapping their plans to kick families off Family Tax Benefit B when their youngest child turns 6.

No matter how much the Tony Abbott tries to spin it his reshuffle, his Budget is still unfair and it hurts Australian families.

You don’t help families with cost of living pressures by cutting family payments.

Former Prime Minister John Howard understood this when he predicted earlier in the year that the Abbott Government’s cuts to family tax benefits would hurt middle Australia.
