SCOTT MORRISON STANDS BY CRUEL CUT TO YOUNG PEOPLE

September 10, 2015

Scott Morrison has this morning recommitted to his plans to leave young jobseekers with nothing to live on for a month, despite the Senate having defeated the measure last night.

Asked on the ABC’s AM Program if he would bring it back to the Parliament, he said

“Absolutely”

SCOTT MORRISON – ABC – 10 SEPTEMBER 2015

Scott Morrison just doesn’t get it. Australians don’t want to live in a country that deliberately pushes young people into poverty.

For nearly 18 months, Labor has fought this cruel cut.

First the Government tried to cut income support for jobseekers under 30 for six months.

Then they tried to leave jobseekers under 25 with nothing to live on for a month.

Both measures were defeated by Labor.

Not only was he defeated in the Senate last night, but for the second sitting week in a row he has taken his cuts to Paid Parental Leave off the House of Representatives daily program.

And of course we are yet to see any legislation on the Government’s ‘families package’ – the centrepiece of this year’s Budget.

Scott Morrison’s whole legislative agenda is off the rails.

Labor will continue to fight Scott Morrison’s cuts until he takes them out of the Parliament and out of the Budget.
