REJECTED FOI REQUEST REVEALS COALITION HOSTILITY TO WORKING WOMEN
November 21, 2016
A rejected Freedom of Information request has revealed the level of hostility within the Turnbull Government to working mums.
FOI authorities rejected the request because it would have taken 550 pages and four days to list all the offensive language towards working women used in official government correspondence, including “doubled dippers”, “rorters” and “frauds”.
This is completely outrageous and exposes how out of touch the Turnbull Government is with ordinary Australians.
The Coalition Government has used so much offensive language so often about working mums that it was impossible for the FOI request to be processed.
Mr Turnbull and Mr Morrison should apologise to women for using such grossly offensive language.
After that they should drop all of their plans to cut paid parental leave to thousands of mums across Australia.
Reports yesterday revealed details of Mr Turnbull’s latest plan to cut paid parental leave to around 70,000 mums.
If Mr Turnbull gets his way, 70,000 mums on a median income of $62,000 would be on average $5,600 worse off
Labor will continue to stand up for Australian families and fight for a fair paid parental leave scheme.
