REAL LIES, NO SOLUTIONS: ABBOTT’S CUTS TO FAMILIES
September 07, 2015
Before the last election Tony Abbott promised to Australian families:
“I do support a fair dinkum paid parental leave scheme because every single woman in the workforce will be better off under my scheme.”
TONY ABBOTT – LEADERS DEBATE – 28 AUGUST 2013
Two years later Mr Abbott wants to cut paid parental leave to 80,000 new parents each year.
If Tony Abbott gets his way 45,000 new parents will lose part of their paid parental leave and 34,000 new parents will lose the full $11,500.
Mr Abbott’s 2013 election policy document Real Solutions states he will:
“Help families with the real cost of raising children.”
REAL SOLUTIONS - P. 34
After the election Mr Abbott decided he would cut $8.5 billion from family tax benefits. This includes:
Families losing all of Family Tax Benefit B when their youngest child turns six;
Freezing payment rates for Family Tax Benefits;
Reducing Family Tax Benefit end of year supplements.
These unfair Budget cuts will leave an average family on $65,000 a year up to $6,000 a year worse off.
Mr Abbott lied through his teeth to Australian families.
He has no solutions for families facing cost of living pressures.
In his acceptance speech on election night Mr Abbott told Australians that he would lead:
“A government of no surprises and no excuses.”
TONY ABBOTT - SPEECH - 7 SEPTEMBER 2013
Mr Abbott is out of excuses.
For the last two years Tony Abbott has failed Australian families.
After two years of Tony, Australian families are paying the price for this government’s cuts and broken promises.
Australian families cannot afford another three years of Tony Abbott and Joe Hockey’s Liberals.
