PBO CONFIRMS THAT UNFAIR ZOMBIE CUTS REMAIN
May 22, 2017
The independent Parliamentary Budget Office (PBO) today confirmed that two major unfair zombie cuts remain in the Turnbull Government’s Budget, including:
- Increasing the Age Pension age to 70; and
- Axing the Energy Supplement.
During Senate Estimates today, officials from the PBO stated:
“There are only four remaining unlegislated measures that haven’t been significantly amended…. the two main ones are the increase in the age pension qualifying age, that remains and the second one is the abolition of the Energy Supplement for remaining new recipients.”
Mr Turnbull still wants to make unfair cuts from the 2014 Budget.
This is yet another sign that Malcolm Turnbull just doesn’t get fairness.
Mr Turnbull still wants to increase the pension age to 70 – a signature unfair policy from the reviled 2014 Budget.
Mr Turnbull still wants to give Australia the oldest pension age in the developed world.
Mr Turnbull still wants to axe the Energy Supplement to 1.7 million Australians including pensioners, people with disability, carers, and Newstart recipients.
Mr Turnbull says he believes in ‘fairness’ but he’s actually trying to legislate unfair cuts that will hurt millions of ordinary Australians.
Australians won’t be fooled by Malcolm Turnbull and the Liberals.
