PATHETIC PORTER LIES ON THE NDIS… AGAIN
February 27, 2017
The Minister for Social Services, Christian Porter continues to tell lies about the funding of the NDIS.
In 2013, Nigel Ray, a Deputy Secretary at Treasury tabled a Treasury document at Senate Estimates that clearly showed how the NDIS was funded over 10 years.
The NDIS was fully funded by Labor in 2013.
The increase to the Medicare Levy was always intended to cover some – not all – of the cost of the NDIS.
Labor made responsible Budget choices to help fund the NDIS over 10 years, including:
- Private health insurance rebate reforms;
- Changes to retirement incomes;
- Changes to tax concessions for fringe benefits;
- Changes to tobacco excise indexation;
- Changes to import processing charges.
Christian Porter should stop misleading people and casting doubt over the future of the NDIS.
Linking the future of the NDIS to cuts to harsh cuts is an appalling political trick by the Liberals.
The Turnbull Government has no right to pit one group of vulnerable Australians against another.
Mr Porter should stop playing politics with the NDIS.
He must get on with the job of delivering the NDIS to thousands of people with disability.
