MORRISON STANDS BY PENSION INDEXATION CUTS
April 23, 2015
Scott Morrison continues to stand by his unfair pension indexation cuts.
Scott Morrison’s cuts to pension indexation currently before the Parliament will leave pensioners $80 a week worse off.
Unfortunately, Mr Morrison is refusing to listen and drop his unfair cuts to Australian pensioners.
Under the Government’s pension policy, the pension will drop from 28 per cent of Male Total Average Weekly earnings today to just 16 per cent by 2055.
Australian pensioners risk being pushed into poverty and hardship because of this Government’s unfair cuts.
Labor understands that pensioners have worked hard all their lives and contributed so much to this country.
Pensioners deserve to be treated with respect and deserve the certainty of a decent retirement - they don’t deserve to be treated like a burden on society by the Abbott Government.
Mr Morrison must unreservedly drop his cuts to pension indexation.
While he’s at it he should guarantee not to make any further changes to pensions in next month’s budget.
The Abbott Government must take its unfair cuts to pension indexation out of the Parliament and out of the budget.
