MORRISON’S PROMISE TO PENSIONERS IS JUST AS HOLLOW AS ABBOTT’S

Today in Question Time, Treasurer Scott Morrison said:

“The government has no plans to make any changes to the pension.”

Sound familiar?

Before the last election, Tony Abbott repeatedly said there would be no change to pensions.

But Australian pensioners know this was a complete lie.

Pensioners couldn’t believe Tony Abbott then, and they can’t believe Scott Morrison now.

First they tried to cut pension indexation – a cut that would have meant pensioners would lose $80 a week within a decade.

Then the Liberals did a dirty deal with the Greens to cut the pension for 330,000 pensioners.

The Liberals also want to increase the pension eligibility age to 70 – meaning Australia would have the oldest retirement age in the developed world.

And now Malcolm Turnbull and Scott Morrison want to whack Australian pensioners with a 15 per cent GST, hitting households by up to $4,000 a year and reducing the living standards of Australian pensioners.

It’s clear that Scott Morrison is all spin and no substance when it comes to helping pensioners.

And Australian pensioners know they can’t trust anything Mr Morrison says.
