MORRISON FAILS TO TELL THE TRUTH ON PENSIONS

Minister for Social Services, Scott Morrison has failed again to tell the truth about the Abbott Government’s policy on pensions.

Scott Morrison made the extraordinary claim today, that:

“The Government has completely honoured its pledge before the last election that there would be no changes to pensions or superannuation in this term of parliament. That was the commitment and that is the commitment we've kept.”

SCOTT MORRISON – 2 APRIL 2015

Stop lying Minister.

The commitment Tony Abbott gave before the election was: “No change to pensions”.

But Tony Abbott is cutting pensions, increasing the eligibility age of the pension to 70, slashing the deeming rate thresholds of the pension – and in this term of Government.

Liberal and National Party members all voted to legislate these changes to the pension in the Parliament.

Scott Morrison should explain how it is sustainable for a pensioner to live with an $80 a week cut to their pension over the next decade.

He should explain how it is fair to push pensioners into poverty.

Mr Morrison keeps saying he wants to have a conversation about the pension.

But the only conversation Australian pensioners want to hear is the one where Tony Abbott drops his unfair cuts to pension indexation.

Labor calls on the Abbott Government to unreservedly drop its cuts to pension indexation.
