Friday, 25 November 2011

Federal Member for Jagajaga, Jenny Macklin MP today joined the St Francis Xavier Primary School community in Montmorency to officially open their innovative new library, IT area and four new classrooms delivered under the Federal Government’s Building the Education Revolution Program.

St Francis Xavier Primary School received over $2.6 million for the new facilities, as well as $150,000 in funding through the Federal Government’s National School Pride Program to undertake further refurbishment works.

Ms Macklin congratulated St Francis Xavier Primary on their new facilities.

“Principal Phil Doherty, as well as staff and the entire school community have put an enormous amount of their energy into making this day a reality,”

“This is a really exciting moment for this school. You can tell they’re really looking forward to making the very most of this new facility,”

“These facilities open up a whole new world of possibilities for the entire school community, as well as their ability to make new connections with the local community around them,”

“Importantly, many jobs were supported during the construction phase of these facilities which kept many people in work during the global financial crisis.” Ms Macklin said.
