Labor member for Jagajaga, Jenny Macklin, today announced that a Shorten Labor Government will commit $750,000 for a much needed upgrade to the Research Park Pavilion in Research.
The upgrade will see the construction of two additional change-rooms for players, umpires and spectators and a second floor social room with kitchen, bar and meeting rooms overlooking the ground.
“I am so glad to support the Research Football Club, Research Junior Football Club and the Research/Eltham Collegians Cricket Club with this much needed upgrade,” Ms Macklin said.
“These clubs are the bedrock of our local community.
“This upgrade of the Pavilion will allow for the continued expansion of these fantastic local sporting clubs.
“I had the opportunity to speak to club leaders in April when they received their Stronger Communities Grant. Since then I have been able to take their concerns to my parliamentary colleagues and win support for this exciting upgrade.”
The $750,000 from Federal Labor will be matched by $200,000 from the club community, $200,000 from the Victorian Labor Government and $150,000 from the Nillumbik Shire Council.
“The club community has done an outstanding job raising the money, and it is great to be able to further support their efforts,” Ms Macklin said.
