Labor welcomes today’s signing of the agreement for the full rollout of the National Disability Insurance Scheme in Queensland.

This is excellent news for people with disability, their families and carers in Queensland.

Today’s signing is another important step forward for the NDIS and gives much needed certainty for people with disability in Queensland.

From 1 July 2016, NDIS will continue to roll out across Queensland, reaching full rollout in 2019.

In January this year the NDIS launched in parts of North Queensland including Townsville, Charters Towers and Palm Island.

Labor created the NDIS because for too long, Australians with disability had been forced to live lives as second class citizens.

The NDIS means people with disability will get the care and support they need to live the lives they deserve.

Queensland joins NSW, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and the ACT in having all signed their agreements for the full rollout of the NDIS.

Labor calls on the Turnbull Government to sign the remaining agreements as soon as possible, so people with disability all around Australia know when they will get access to this transformative social reform.
