LABOR’S NDIS TRANSFORMING THE LIVES OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY
August 17, 2015
The release of the Quarterly Report on the sustainability of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is testament to the transformation that is taking place for people with disability all around the nation.
The report confirms that the NDIS is doing exactly what Labor designed it to do: transform the lives of people with disability, their carers and families.
The NDIS is on time and on budget.
Thousands of people with disability are receiving the care and support they need, with over 17,300 participants having approved plans and over $952 million of support being committed to these participants.
Participant satisfaction is high, with 95 per cent of participants rating their experience with the NDIS as ‘good’ or ‘very good’.
Labor congratulates the National Disability Insurance Agency for helping to make the NDIS a reality, and their dedication to making sure we get it right.
Labor is proud to have introduced the NDIS, a transformative scheme that will provide people with disability the support and care they have waited so long for.
In Government, Labor fully funded the NDIS into the future.
Labor urges the Government to finalise the bilateral plans on the transition to full roll out of the NDIS to end the uncertainty and ensure Australians with disability across the nation can access the benefits of the scheme.
Labor will continue to stand up for Australians with disability, their carers and families, making sure they get the opportunities and support they need.
