KEVIN ANDREWS CONFIRMS ABBOTT’S PPL IN CHAOS

Reports in today’s Fairfax papers show that Tony Abbott’s unfair and unaffordable paid parental leave scheme is mired in complete chaos.

The Minister for Social Services, Kevin Andrews has admitted that the Abbott Government has no idea if the scheme will be ready by its start date of 1 July 2015.

The Government has no idea how much its scheme will cost taxpayers.

This is just utter chaos.

Last week Tony Abbott promised to “reboot” his Government by backing down on his “signature” paid parental leave scheme.

A week later the scheme is a complete mess.

For years, Tony Abbott has tied himself to his extravagant scheme, but it’s now time for Mr Abbott to wake up and realise Australians don’t want his paid parental leave scheme.

The OECD is the latest voice to join the chorus of criticism by lashing the generosity of Tony Abbott’s paid parental leave scheme.

Labor believes in a fair and affordable paid parental leave scheme, because that is what Labor delivered.

Labor’s paid parental leave scheme introduced in 2011 continues to work well having benefitted more than 400,000 Australian families.
