Jobs Fund project a boost to jobs in Macleod

25 March 2010

$425,000 Jobs Fund Project announced for Open House CIC in Macleod to build a community workspace and meeting area, community activity hall, and an outdoor multi-sports facility.

The funding is delivered through the Get Communities Working stream of the Rudd Government’s Jobs Fund.

Open House CIC was formed in 1971 and is a not-for-profit, volunteer based community organisation, providing support to those in need or who are disadvantaged in our local community.

Ms Macklin said the project would create many jobs during the construction phase.

“This is a fantastic announcement for Open House and the Macleod community, as well as for the many people that will be put to work on this project,”

“Twenty six long term jobs will be generated during the construction phase,”

“In addition, forty work experience positions and two traineeships will also be created to help at-risk youth and unskilled job seekers to acquire the skills they need for their move into long term employment,”

“And of course, this project will deliver fantastic new facilities for Open House and give it the infrastructure it needs to be a focal point of community activity in Macleod well into the future.”
