Federal Member for Jagajaga, Jenny Macklin MP is appealing to the community to help Diamond Valley Foodshare come to the rescue of local needy families this Winter.
Diamond Valley Foodshare work tirelessly in the local community to provide food parcels and in-kind support for local families that are under financial stress.
As Winter sets in, there has been a surge in demand for their services.
To support the Appeal, Ms Macklin is accepting donations of non-perishable food items (suggested items listed overleaf) and is contacting all local schools and over 350 local community groups.
Donations received at Ms Macklin’s office will be sent directly to Diamond Valley Foodshare.
Ms Macklin said Winter can be particularly stressful time for financially disadvantaged people in our community.
“Winter can be a very tough time for families under financial stress,”
“Diamond Valley Foodshare do incredible to work keep up with the huge demand placed on them for food parcels, but unfortunately they struggle to keep up when need surges,”
“Everyone can help Foodshare come to the rescue of people right here in our own community and help them get through this Winter,”
“Items can simply be dropped off at my office at 149 Burgundy St, Heidelberg any time between the hours of 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
“Any kind donation, however large or small, will make an enormous difference to someone in our community.” Ms Macklin said.
