Help support the BANSIC `Fill a hamper' Christmas Appeal

20 November 2009

Jenny is appealing to the community to help Banyule Support and Information Service (BANSIC) in Heidelberg fill their annual Christmas hampers for local needy families.

Every year, BANSIC produce free Christmas hampers for local families that are under financial stress.

To support the Appeal, Ms Macklin is accepting donations of non-perishable food items, toiletries, and gifts for younger and teenage children, and is writing to all local schools and over 350 local community groups.

Donations received at Ms Macklin’s office will be sent to BANSIC.

Ms Macklin said Christmas time can be particularly stressful time for financially disadvantaged people in our community.

“Christmas can be a very tough time for families under financial stress,”

“Many face the prospect of not being able to afford many of the things we can often take for granted at Christmas time – such as a family meal together or toys for children,”

“BANSIC do incredible work every year to keep up with the huge demand placed on them for these Christmas hampers, but unfortunately there are families that miss out,”

“Everyone can help BANSIC come to the rescue of people in our own community and help even more families have a happy Christmas this year,”

“Items can simply be dropped off at my office at 149 Burgundy St, Heidelberg any time before Thursday 17th December. I will be passing on all proceeds to BANSIC,”

“Any kind donation, however large or small, will make an enormous difference to someone who also deserves a happy Christmas.” Ms Macklin said.
