Help save the ancient game of Quoits!
7 April 2010
Jenny has thrown her support behind Heidelberg/Warringal Senior Citizens Club’s efforts to boost local participation rates for the ancient game of Quoits.
Quoits is a traditional game which involves the throwing of rings over a set distance to land over (or near) a spike, sometimes called a hob, mott or pin.
The sport of Quoits encompasses several distinct variations, but its origins reach back to ancient Greece.
Jenny has teamed up with Club President Arthur Savage to raise awareness for this fun and ancient sport, and has encouraged interested local residents of all ages to get on board and give Quoits a try.
“It would be a real shame to see a great old game like Quoits disappear locally,”
“Unfortunately, the game has experienced dwindling participation rates over recent years,”
“Quoits is a really fun activity that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, and most importantly can bring together people of all ages for a game and a good time,”
“The game also has a great social element to it, so I’m urging resident across our local area that would be interested in giving Quoits a try to give Heidelberg/Warringal Senior Citizens Club a call.”
Interested residents can call Heidelberg/Warringal Senior Citizens Club on 9459 3174.
