Get behind Research CFA Fundraiser
21 October 2009
Federal Member for Jagajaga, Jenny Macklin MP and State Member for Eltham, Steve Herbert MP have invited the local community to get behind Research CFA’s fundraising evening on Friday October 30th, 2009 at the Eltham Community Centre.
The event aims to generate funds towards the purchase of additional fire fighting equipment ahead of Bushfire Season this year.
The event will feature Former Collingwood Premiership Captain Tony Shaw as MC and will be supported by Hip Hop dancing, belly dancing and live music acts.
Special signed sporting memorabilia from Cricket Australia, the Melbourne Tigers Basketball Team, Tennis Australia and the Essendon Football Club (plus more) will be auctioned off.
Ms Macklin and Mr Herbert urged the local community to support the event.
“The tragic February bushfires showed us all the extent of support the CFA offers our community,” Ms Macklin said.
“It is important we support our local CFA in their efforts to raise funds to purchase much needed equipment,”
“Whilst they do receive ongoing Government assistance, Research CFA is determined to raise extra funding themselves and they deserve as much support from our local community as we can give them.” Ms Macklin said.
“We can all be very thankful that the Research CFA personnel respond so well when and where they are needed,” Mr Herbert said.
“I encourage all local residents to come along and show their support for our brave local
fire-fighters on Friday 30 October.” Mr Herbert said.
