25 June 2008

The Heidelberg Repatriation Veterans’ Centre will be provided with $17,243 as part of the Federal Government’s Building Excellence in Support and Training grant program.

‘This funding will help the Veterans’ Centre provide essential support to our returned service veterans’ Ms Macklin said.

‘These men and women proudly served our nation in a time of great need, and we owe it to them to make sure they are looked after’.

The grant will provide for seven desktop computers, two laptop computers, five printers and funding for internet access.

Mr Rob Winther, Chairperson of the Veterans’ Centre, said this funding would significantly improve the functioning of the Centre.

‘This funding will allow us to make better use of information technology, making it easier for veterans and their families to connect with the government and to provide veterans and their familles the support they need’ Mr Winther said.

‘This funding will allow the Veterans’ Centre to continue their essential working in helping veterans and their families access pensions and other government support’ Ms Mackin said.

‘This kind of tangible, on the ground support is essential to delivering high quality services to our brave returned service men and women.
