Concert featuring Emily Wang and David Ian Kram

Internationally respected conductor and accompanist David Kram joins with soprano Emily Wang to present an entertaining evening of fine music.

Internationally respected conductor and accompanist David Kram joins with soprano Emily Wang to present an entertaining evening of fine music. Funds raised on the night will go towards their cultural exchange trip to China and Europe, with part of the proceeds also being donated to Cystic Fibrosis Victoria.
 
The audience will be treated to performances of some of the most beloved arias and songs including Ave Maria, Vissi d’arte and the Laughing Song, interspersed with David Kram’s anecdotes that make these concerts doubly meaningful for the public.
 
David has conducted in many fine European opera houses including Berlin and Geneva. He was resident conductor for the Australian Opera, Music Director of the State Opera of South Australia. He is now Senior Lecturer and Conductor at the Faculty of Music at the Victorian College of the Arts, as well as General Manager and Creative Director of the community-minded company More Than Opera.
 
Emily Wang is a Shanghai-born soprano with an angelic voice. She recently sang the role of the Countess in Melbourne Opera’s Marriage of Figaro.
 
David and Emily have been invited to Shanghai and Tianjin to develop cultural relations between Australia and China. In Shanghai Emily will feature as soloist and David as conductor in a concert given by Shanghai Normal including a chorus and orchestra.
 
In Tianjin, sister-city to Melbourne, Emily and David anticipate giving master classes with a view to helping to establish a formal relationship between the University of Melbourne and the Tianjin Conservatorium. Their services for these master classes will be donated.
 
In Prague they will be working to help promote a new company, International Opera Productions (IOP). IOP enables artists produce top quality CD recordings with members of the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra. IOP offers a recording opportunity as a prize for one of the finalists of the Australian Singing Competition.
 
David then takes up honorary teaching engagements at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester and the National Academy of Voice, Cardiff.
