Children’s Protection Society in Heidelberg West receives IT grant
13 July 2010
The Children’s Protection Society will receive a $9,500 grant from the Gillard Government to upgrade their Information Technology services for the delivery of its Invest to Grow Program.
Recently, the Federal Government announced $1.8 million over three years for CPS to provide at risk children with access to a new early childhood project, that brings together quality early childhood education with intensive family support.
Ms Macklin said the work being done every day by the Children’s Protection Society was extremely important.
“Programs being delivered by CPS with the support of the Federal Government are really improving the lives of at risk children and securing their development in those crucial early years,”
“Critically this also includes support for families, for mums and dads, to build their parenting skills and strengthen family relationships which leads to a more stable, loving environment for children,”
“This one-off grant can be used to purchase essential IT equipment and upgrade computers, software, telephone systems, internet connections and other related costs,”
“It will reduce the burden on CPS staff so that they can get on with the really important job of assisting children and families from across our local community.” Ms Macklin said.
.
Bernadette Burchell, Chief Executive Officer of the Children’s Protection Society has welcomed the funding.
“The Children’s Protection Society is really encouraged by this grant, as a contribution towards vital information technology infrastructure, and often these critical services miss out on support,”
“IT infrastructure is as important to us as important as vehicles and roads in being able to deliver quality sustainable services to the community,”
“This contribution to the costs of delivering services to children at risk of abuse and neglect is most welcome.” Ms Burchell said.
