BUSINESS SLAMS MORRISON’S CUTS TO PAID PARENTAL LEAVE

Business has today slammed Scott Morrison’s unfair cuts to paid parental leave that will leave 80,000 new parents worse off every year.

Ahead of today’s Senate hearing into the paid parental leave cuts, ACCI Chief Executive Kate Carnell said:

“We believe the Government has got this legislation wrong.”

Kate Carnell then went on to trash Scott Morrison’s claimed budget savings, saying:

“[It] simply won’t achieve the savings, and probably isn’t reasonable to those employers who have… appropriately put together extra benefits to encourage female participation in the workforce”

Business wants this cut to paid parental leave scrapped.

The only person who seems to think this cut is fair is Scott Morrison.

If Scott Morrison gets his way 45,000 new parents will lose part of their paid parental leave and 34,000 new parents will lose the full $11,500.

This cut to Australian families is unfair and unjustified.

Labor will continue to fight these cuts. Scott Morrison should take them out of the Parliament and out of the Budget for good.
