BUSINESS QUESTIONS MORRISON’S FISCAL CREDENTIALS

The Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has today questioned Scott Morrison’s fiscal credentials, publically doubting whether Morrison’s claimed $1 billion cuts to paid parental leave can be achieved.

Speaking at the Senate Community Affairs hearing into the Government’s paid parental leave cuts, ACCI Chief Executive, Kate Carnell said:

“The Government has indicated… they will save almost $1 billion from this piece of legislation, we are concerned that won’t happen, in fact we’re fairly confident that won’t happen.”

The leading business group then went on to say:

“The problem with the Bill is it won’t achieve what it set out to achieve and that’s significant budget savings and at the same time could have unintended consequences.”

Scott Morrison’s fiscal credentials have been seriously undermined the very day he’s trying his hardest to steal Treasurer Joe Hockey’s job.

His claimed savings are nothing more than a mirage.

Mr Morrison should finally listen to the views of business and parents and scrap his unfair cuts to paid parental leave.
