AUSTRALIANS CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY

December 03, 2014

Today thousands of Australians with disability will come together to celebrate International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD).

International Day of People with Disability is an important opportunity to celebrate and raise awareness of people living with disability.

Across Australia hundreds of community events including BBQ’s and picnics are taking place to celebrate people with disability.

I congratulate all people with disability who are leading the way and celebrating their ability on this day.

Now in its 22nd year, International Day of People with Disability provides us with an excellent opportunity to reflect on recent success and the important work still ahead of us to increase the participation of people with disability.

Last week the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) released its second year first quarterly report showing that around 8,880 people are getting the care and support they need thanks to the NDIS.
