ABBOTT’S CUTS WILL HURT 8,000 FAMILIES IN CAPRICORNIA

May 26, 2015

Tony Abbott’s cuts to Family Tax Benefits will hurt around 8,000 families in Capricornia.

In Federal Parliament today the Prime Minister was asked if he had told: “The Member for Capricornia that around 8,000 working families in her electorate will be worse off because of his Budget?

But Mr Abbott failed to reveal that he plans to kick families off Family Tax Benefit Part B when their youngest child turns six.

He failed to admit that he wants to freeze the rates of Family Tax Benefits.

He also failed to mention NATSEM modelling showing that nine out of ten of the lowest income families lose under the Abbott Government’s Budget.

Tony Abbott claims that his Budget is “good for families”.

Yet as a result of his Budget a single income family in Rockhampton on $65,000 with two children in school will be around $6,000 a year worse off by 2018-19.

Labor opposes these unfair cuts on local families.

Local Member for Capricornia, Michelle Landry, needs to stand up for local families and vote against these cuts.

Families in Capricornia already know they can’t trust Mr Abbott.

It’s time that Michelle Landry did the right thing and opposed these cuts to families in Capricornia.
