ABBOTT’S CUTS TO FAMILY PAYMENTS FAIL “FAMILIES TEST”

Reports in today’s Fairfax papers indicate that the Minister for Social Services, Kevin Andrews is considering applying a ‘‘families test’’ to all Federal Government legislation and policy.

This is breathtaking hypocrisy from a Minister who pretends to care about families yet plans to make $5 billion worth of cuts to ordinary Australian families in this year’s Budget.

These cuts will see a family on $65,000 with two school aged children $6,000 a year worse off by 2016.

Tony Abbott and Kevin Andrews want to kick families off Family Tax Benefit B when their youngest child turns six.

You don’t need a “families test” to tell you this will hurt Australian families.

For the first time since 2005, this year’s Budget did not include an assessment of the impact of the Budget on families.

Tony Abbott and Kevin Andrews have launched a full scale attack on ordinary Australian families, and just like they lied to families before the election, they continue to lie about how they are hurting ordinary Australian families.

If Tony Abbott and Kevin Andrews want to help Australian families, they should scrap their unfair Budget and stop attacking Australian families.
