ABBOTT MUST KEEP HIS PROMISE TO ROLLOUT NDIS IN FULL, ON TIME
March 31, 2014
Labor welcomes the announcement today on the finalisation of the details for the launch of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in Western Australia (WA).
Labor and the WA Government announced in August last year that the NDIS would launch in WA from 1 July 2014. This announcement from Tony Abbott on the details is long overdue.
“Last week I visited WA and called on Tony Abbott to guarantee that the NDIS would launch in WA from 1 July, as promised,” Jenny Macklin said.
Already, more than 2,500 Australians with disability are getting access to better services as part of the NDIS.
Today’s overdue announcement comes on the same day that Joe Hockey is out there talking down the NDIS.
“As recently as last Wednesday, Tony Abbott promised in the Parliament that there would be no delays to the NDIS. But Joe Hockey is out there again today talking down the NDIS and raising fears of cuts and delays to the NDIS.
“Tony Abbott must not shirk his responsibility to deliver the NDIS in full and on time, as promised,” Jenny Macklin said.
