ABBOTT DUMPS ANDREWS AFTER DISMAL RECORD ON FAMILY PAYMENTS, PENSIONS

December 21, 2014

Tony Abbott has finally admitted his Government’s record on family payments and pensions has been an utter failure.

However Scott Morrison must scrap the Government’s cruel cuts to family payments and cuts to pensions.

Outgoing Minister Kevin Andrews leaves behind a legacy of cruel cuts and broken promises to Australian families and pensioners.

This is a government that was elected on the promise of no changes to pensions.

But after the election Tony Abbott sought to cut $450 million from pensions by cutting pension indexation.

Scott Morrison must immediately scrap the Government’s plan to cut pension indexation.

Today Tony Abbott said he wants his Government to refocus on Australian families.

But a typical family on $65,000 a year will be around $6,000 a year worse off because of Tony Abbott’s unfair Budget.

There’s nothing in this reshuffle that will protect families from the Abbott Government’s cruel cuts.

There’s nothing in this reshuffle that will help ease the cost of living pressures on Australian families.

If Tony Abbott and Scott Morrison are genuine about helping Australian families they should immediately scrap the Government’s cruel cuts to family payments.
