PORTER CONFIRMS LIBS STILL WANT TO INCREASE PENSION AGE TO 70

September 20, 2016

Minister for Social Services, Christian Porter today confirmed that the Turnbull Government is 100 per cent committed to increasing the pension eligibility age to 70.

Asked today at the National Press Club when legislation to increase the pension age to 70 will be introduced into the Parliament, Mr Porter answered: “you will see that legislation.”

This measure was first announced in the 2014 Budget and neither Mr Abbott nor Mr Turnbull was able to pass the changes through the Parliament.

Increasing the pension age to 70 will mean that Australia will have the oldest pension age in the developed world.

How does Mr Turnbull expect farmers, builders and nurses to work until they’re 70?

If ever you wanted an example of how completely out of touch Mr Turnbull and Mr Porter are - increasing the pension age to 70 is it.

Labor will continue to oppose the Liberals plan to increase the pension age to 70.
