$45 Million Greensborough Project Kicks off
12 March 2010
Member for Jagajaga, Jenny Macklin, joined the Banyule community in Greensborough today to kick off construction works at the $45 million Regional Aquatic and Leisure Centre.
The Rudd Government provided $5 million to Banyule City Council for the project.
Ms Macklin said the Regional Aquatic and Leisure Centre will be a state of the art health and wellness facility comprising - amongst other things - three new pools, spa and sauna areas and new office and reception areas.
“This project is expected to create many local jobs during the two year construction phase and will support over 300 new ongoing positions once complete.”
“The new centre will become a landmark recreation, health and fitness destination for people and provide opportunities for co-ordinated programs between Council and other community organisations.” Ms Macklin said.
Mr Albanese and Ms Macklin congratulated the Banyule City Council and the local community for helping deliver this project, and helping build a stronger region for the future.
