2009 Jagajaga Community Australia Day Awards
1 October 2008
Jenny Macklin MP, Federal Member for Jagajaga, today called for nominations for the 2009 Jagajaga Community Australia Day Awards.
The awards have been running since 1993 in Jagajaga, and are conducted by Ms Macklin.
“These awards give the credit due to those who live and work locally who donate their time to help others”, Ms Macklin said.
"Many people serve the community tirelessly, with little or no recognition. In many cases, they give their time voluntarily to help those less fortunate than themselves.
"It is an honour to be able to recognise them in this way.”
The awards are given in the following categories:
§ Community Service / the Arts;
§ Local Business / Employment;
§ The Environment
§ Young Achievers; and
§ Local Sport.
"The Awards are co-hosted by Banyule City Council and Nillumbik Shire Council and this year will be held at The Centre Ivanhoe.
“It is with great pride that I once again call on community groups and individuals in Jagajaga to nominate people they see worthy of such an award”.
Nominations will close on Friday 7 November 2008, and nomination forms are available by calling Jenny Macklin’s office on 9459 1411.
